Toll Group’s new freighter, the Tasmanian Achiever II, has berthed in Burnie ahead of its official naming ceremony on 17 February.
The naming ceremony will include champagne smashing against the ship, tours for VIPs and family-friendly activities.
The 210-metre-long vessel is one of two new additions to Toll’s fleet that will boost the company’s freight capacity by 40 per cent. Executive general manager of Tasmania and shipping, Steve Borg, said Toll had made “the country’s largest private investment in coastal in 25 years” by spending AU$311m on the ships and port upgrades.
