Singapore accounted for a quarter of some US$5.99bn in capital invested in the region’s tech firms during the first half of this year, up from 13 per cent for the whole of 2018, according to a report by venture capital (VC) firm Cento Ventures.

Southeast Asia saw a record number of technology-related deals as well as increasing geography and sector diversification in such investments from January to June, said the report.

The US$5.99bn in capital pumped into the region’s tech firms during January to June was 28 per cent lower than the US$8.31bn invested in the year-ago period, but nearly two-thirds more than the US$3.6bn injected in H2 2018.
