Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook today urged industry players to embrace methods of minimising environmental damage due to logistical operations, saying this is important in achieving greater efficiency and a reduction in carbon emissions. He said the government has implemented many initiatives to provide a platform for the logistics industry to achieve higher efficiency.
“Logistics plays a central role in the global economy, and the industry can play a crucial part in the way business is done with regards to environmental impact,” he said at the launch of the Inaugural Green Logistics Partnership conference here today.
He added however that many are reluctant to embrace green logistics due to the misconception that doing so will require substantial investments in costly technology.
