DHL has announced the construction of Malaysia’s first Global Center of Excellence (GCOE) in Iskandar. The Global Center will offer supply chain consultation services, and support businesses to design logistics solutions such as Automotive and Life Sciences. Together with Iskandar Innovations Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Iskandar Investment Berhad, DHL will set up the GCOE.
The GCOE will serve as a bridge between companies and major stakeholders within Iskandar, Malaysia. It will be the hub for Asia and global markets and boost its value proposition by linking the region to the world’s main economies. The region’s logistics ambitions will be driven by the GCOE with networking sessions and workshops. Such sessions and workshops will gather companies and industry experts to share their expertise and practices; brainstorming innovative ideas to shape Iskandar, Malaysia’s future.
President and CEO of Iskandar Investment Berhad, Datuk Ir. Khairil Anwar Ahmad, mentioned that Iskandar has the ambition to be an ASEAN supply chain hub. The GCOE will allow that to happen by being a strategic player in creating employment opportunities and export growth that carry the region’s future economic plans.
Global Fast Growing Enterprise, President and Regional Head of DHL’s Customer Solutions and Innovation Asia Pacific, Mr. Alfred Goh emphasised on the ability of the GCOE to improve the supply chain capabilities of Iskandar’s. Iskandar will be able to arrange its logistics investments with global demand and market forces. This can be done with the complement of pure logistics skills and solutions with wider business development, market insights, and networking with major decision-makers across the globe.
A similar Supply Chain Center of Excellence was launched by DHL in Singapore in the year 2007. Iskandar’s Global Center of Excellence will begin its operation in Q2 2018.
