Program Overview

In the face of escalating costs, labour shortages, and changing consumer demands, modern agriculture is under pressure to innovate and adapt. The advent of agriculture technology (agtech) offers promising solutions to these challenges. Agtech encompasses a range of technologies, such as precision agriculture, smart irrigation, biotechnology, automation, indoor vertical farming, livestock technology, modern greenhouse practices, artificial intelligence, and blockchain. This workshop aims to explore these advancements and their application in enhancing the efficiency, productivity, and sustainability of food production.

This 6-day workshop in Bangkok, Thailand, is designed for adult leaders from Singapore involved in the food supply chain industry. It aims to provide insights into the latest agricultural technologies and how they can be leveraged to transform the industry.

Day 1: Arrival in Bangkok

  • Evening: Welcome Dinner and Briefing
  • Introduction to the workshop – Overview of Agriculture and its Impact on the Food Supply Chain

Day 2: The Foundation of Agriculture and its Impact

  • Morning: Travel to Khaoyai
  • Afternoon: Vineyard in Khaoyai

Day 3: Farm Visits in Khaoyai

  • Site visits to Diary Farm, Corn Farm and Mushroom Farm
  • Interaction with local agtech experts

Day 4: Food Manufacturing in Thailand

  • Morning – Travel back to Bangkok
  • Site visit – Food manufacturing (eg. Oishi factory)

Day 5: Collaborative Learning and Synthesis

  • Agriculture Technologies – Explore Technology Application and Relevance to Singapore
  • Participants present their projects on integrating agtech into Singapore’s food supply chain
  • Feedback and discussion session

A half-day post trip workshop can be hosted at NP Campus to engage trainees and explore their development progress. This post-trip workshop can be facilitated by NP faculty members from Life Sciences and supported by SCA.
