At 5 times the value against Black Friday in USA, the Alibaba Single’s Day sale hit a whopping USD25.5 billion in 2017.
This year, the eCommerce company is pulling out all stops to make the sale event the largest in terms of “scale and reach”. The event, which takes places on Nov. 11, is Alibaba’s day of massive sales across all of its platforms and has been compared to Black Friday in the United States. Widely known as “Singles Day,” the event is also known as the 11:11 shopping festival because of the date it takes place.
The new retail strategy of Alibaba aims to touch consumers’ lives more often by combining its core e-commerce sites Tmall and Taobao with physical stores, logistics, food delivery and more.
