Supply Chain Asia’s Retail & e-Commerce 2013 aims to discuss these trends and encourage knowledge sharing on how companies deal with their retail & e-Commerce platforms and supply chain effectively and efficiently. SCA also hope that through sharing and discussion, attendees can generate possible solutions to improve existing management of the retail and e-commerce supply chain and logistics processes.

The retail industry in Asia is constantly growing and expanding. In all regions, sales growth was stronger in 2012 than in previous years, reflecting broad-based expansion in retail revenues. As consumers in Asia enjoyed strong economic growth for the past 2 years, their spending power and the number of markets they spend in increases. Some of the markets with more boosted spendings are China, India, South Korea and Indonesia.

At a regional level, Asia Pacific saw a 25% increase in internet retailing as compared to Eastern Europe with 24% and America with 21%.

The evolution of the internet and powerful online technology has given way to a new area of commerce known as electronic commerce (e-commerce). More and more commercial activities are performed online. With a large percentage of the population gaining internet access at home, consumers are opting to shop online rather than heading to the brick-and-mortar shops. Today, e-commerce has proven to be a fast growing industry in Singapore and all around Asia.
